What AI Visibility is and how to get cited by AI assistants
More and more people ask an AI assistant before searching in Google: “which company should I choose?”, “how do I choose a supplier?”. If your brand doesn’t appear in the answer, you’re invisible to these customers. That’s what AI Visibility is about.
What AI Visibility is
It’s the extent to which your brand is mentioned, recommended or cited in the answers of AI assistants, such as ChatGPT, Gemini or Copilot, and in the summaries in Google results. Unlike classic SEO, you’re not tracking a position in a list, but your presence in an answer.
Where assistants get their information
From websites, from trusted sources that talk about you, from business profiles, reviews and from structured data that explains clearly what you are and what you offer. The clearer, more consistent and better supported the information, the higher the chance of being cited.
What you can do, concretely
- The same data everywhere: name, address, phone, services, written identically on your site, in Google Business and in directories.
- Pages with direct answers: frequently asked questions, short definitions, clear steps.
- Structured data (Schema.org), which tells machines what the information on the page is.
- Mentions from credible sources: articles, partners, publications in your field.
- Content with an author and real data, not generic texts.
How to check where you are now
Ask a few assistants the questions a customer would ask and note: are you mentioned? are you described correctly? who appears instead of you? Repeat the check monthly, because answers change.
Frequently asked questions
Does AI Visibility replace SEO?
No. It rests on the same foundations: good content, a technically correct site and authority. Classic SEO remains important.
Can I be guaranteed to appear in answers?
No, nobody can guarantee that. You can increase your chances through clear, consistent and well-supported information.
How quickly do results show?
It varies. Changes on your site can be reflected within a few weeks, but mentions and authority are built over months.
